future

Can't really fall asleep on my last night in Washington DC. It must be because of the irregularity/deprivation of sleep throughout this whole week. Now that all the events have unfolded, it feels surreal to me that I actually pulled it off. When a Turner representative offered me an interview slot, I felt so excited and giddy. I felt like finally something is going in the right direction. When the interview time came, I was beyond nervous... My first interview EVER... I know it didn't go as well as I wanted to, but I am happy in a sense that I displayed relatively well in what kind of person I am. If the company is right for me, I am sure they'll like what they saw. I think I am doing a good job of controlling my excitement; so hopefully the damage won't be so bad if they decide not to hire me... But if they do, my future, that started to become so uncertain, will be certain- upon graduation, I will begin working for Turner Constructions in San Diego, San Jose, or Anaheim. I can only wish, but it'd be such a great opportunity... and the company seems like the perfect fit for me. I need to stop thinking about it and just wait... I am realizing that writing this blog is actually making me think about it more! Dammit. Anyways, I haven't had a chance to look around the area yet, so hopefully I can visit/tour around a lot tomorrow with Stephen before I head back to SD.
From Washington DC. 4:37am EST.

Whoa... my 4th year at UCSD starts just in few days! It's kind of an old saying, but hopefully I will study hard and party harder! There are still some late birthdays who hasn't turned 21 yet, so hopefully many more 21-celebrations and drinkings to come. I am gonna try to go out more often too. Of course academics will come first, but my plan is to manage my time better so that I do well in school while still having fun. It's kind of sad to admit, but if I can even cut down half of the time I waste procrastinating, I will probably have all the time in the world to do whatever I want...

Friends are great. Despite my laziness, my official summer break (due to school, I only got two weeks of break between the end of summer session II and the beginning of new school year) has been two weeks spent well. Saw a lot of friends and consumed lots and lots of alcohol. I can't help it, I've been destined to drink because I am Korean... The highlights were the NorCal trip and the blink 182 concert. For the second time, I went on a roadtrip to norcal with friends, and this time it was a success! We drank every night and I got to meet handful of cool guys. Also, I learned a great tip: If a friend goes missing at a bar, assume all you want if he/she is getting some action, etc., but at the end of the night, ALWAYS double check to see if he/she is safe. I don't know what would have happened to my friend Kevin if I didn't walk back towards the bar to check where he was at. When he went missing, we all thought he was out doing his thang and spitting game, but apparently he got kicked out. Fortunately, I found him half-dead and throwing up in front of an apartment entrance when I went back to look for him. I am glad that we all made it back safely that night as myself as un-designated driver. That was only one of the three nights we spent at norcal. Good times. Blink 182... I was so in love them during high school, it broke my heart when they broke up. It also saddened me that I didn't get a chance to see them while they were still together... HOWEVER, they decided to get back together recently and I got to see them live last Friday! A big thanks to my friend Dennis because he was able to find tickets for us. The concert was amazing. Not only blink, but All American Rejects and Fall Out Boy were soooooo good live too. This concert definitely contends the Epik High world tour concert for the top spot of my "Best concert experience."

I can see why I don't write here often anymore... it's cuz I am a horrible writer... oh sadness... but its okie cuz life goes on. Gotta swallow sadness LIKE A BAWASS!
Welcome another YEAR of freaking education! Thanks for the two weeks of vacation I guess... it could be worse... I am gonna re-spark the drive I had when I changed my major to mechanical engineering =] Gotta get them As.

Some organized thoughts at the end of the third year

It's end of my third year at college already. I think it was the faster academic year ever, so I guess time does go by faster as you get older. I am not so sure if that's possibly a good sign or not. To be honest, I don't even feel like it's summer actually. because I'll be taking Summer Session I and Summer Session II. All the classes are going to be challenging, but I think I tend to do better during Summer Sessions. It's so much more chill. Library is not full of people, campus is not as crowded, and most importantly, I only have to worry about two classes at a time. It helps to focus better. Also, less but longer classes = less opportunity for me to miss classes.

I am not quite so sure how I did this quarter (Spring). I know I will have at least a 3.0 but 3.5 might be pushing it. I guess only time will tell. I don't think the classes I took were particularly hard, but I made it hard on myself due to bad sleeping habits; it was the worst ever. Probably and literally starting around week 4 till even NOW, I've been nocturnal. I slept around 5~11a and woke up around anywhere from 3p to 6p. It was disastrous for school. Not that any of my professors were good anyway, but I barely made it to any of my classes. I mange to do everything (hw, labs) on time of course, but I am worried that I didn't get exposed to enough materials. My work ethics also took a big hit from the nocturnal lifestyle. Combined with feeling "burnt out," I just couldn't get on task efficiently and effectively. But, I survived.; even if I didn't do so well this quarter, I shouldn't be so hard on myself.

I am looking forward to my "first part" of the summer (I only get two weeks before SSI and two weeks after SSII). I'll spend most of my two weeks back home in LA seeing friends and helping out my mom at her shop. I plan to have a lot of drinking involved in "seeing friends." Also, working would probably mean seeing a lot of korean movies and playing my DS. Super excited to have a life again, yay!

Only one more year left until I am out to the real world. I am gonna work hard to give myself the best oppotunity! When there's will, there's a way. It's not going to be easy, but in order to be the best, I must lose my mind anyway! Oh well. :)

Today definitely calls for an occasion to blog. I went to Epik High's concert at the House of Blues!!
It's funny how I remember blogging in here that I wanted to see them perform live before I die. I said it's going to happen somehow, and it did indeed!

My original plan was to get to the site by 3~4pm, but that did not happen. Due to Sungod aftermath I was in bed until about 3:20pm. By 4, I left my place in SD to embark on the journey to see Epik High! There was some traffic, so I arrived in LA at about 6:30p. I parked my car at my friend's place, which was about 10~15minute walking distance from the House of Blues, and headed towards the concert site with Epik High's 1st album jamming on my ipod. I was just so happy to be attending the concert because the tickets sold out and I couldn't personally purchase any tickets. Luckily though, I found someone through a forum, and was able to get a ticket for myself! Anyway, I was waiting in line by 7. The excitement to see them was killing me, and I waited in line till about 8:20p uneasily. I was finally in the House of Blues, and realized how the place was a lot smaller than I expected (I guess it was no match for Sungod). The concert started rolling by 9:00p and it was interesting/funny to see Dumbfounddead, a local asian LA rapper, as the host of the concert, because I actually saw him perform sometime during high school. The opening group was the "Fareast Movement." They were great performers wearing spacesuits and all, but I was eager to see Epik High and didn't think of them much. Before the concert, I was kind of excited to Kero One, because I heard some of his stuff and wanted to see how he is live. He came on after few songs by the "Fareast Movement." Overall, I thought his performance and music was pretty impressive, but I felt like he sang too many songs! For last of his 4~5songs, I remember keep tellnig myself "Let this song be his last!" And finally... Epik High came on. DJ Tukutz came out first actually to check up on his turntable, while a beatboxer named "DG" was beating-boxing and hyping up the crowd for Epik High. Then there they were... my man Tablo and just as cool Mithra starting things up with "Cipher." I think I enjoyed their performance of "My Flow," "Love Love Love," and "Fly" the most. I remember how hyped I was on "Flow," how much I sang my heart out on "Love Love Love," and well during "Fly," the whole building was flying. Before they performed "Fly," Tablo went on about something like this: "Let's get high through the roof tops. Let's get high above the birds. Let's get high above the clouds. Let's get epik high!" To add on to the epik experience I had at the concert, I actually managed to grab the bandana that Tablo threw! I think when MYK was singing during "Follow the Flow," Tablo put water on the bandana, wiped MYK's face and his face with it, then threw it to the crowd. I wasn't too far away from the stage, and I managed to snatch out before everyone with a relatively high reach (at least compared to the people who were around me).

For my memory's sake, I think the song list of the concert was:
1) Cipher
2) Believe
3) Top Gun
4) the Future
5) Flow
6) Map the Soul
7) 그녀는 몰라 (She Doesn't Know)
8) Follow the Flow
---------
MYK's Peformance
---------
9)One
10) One Minute, One Second
11) Love Love Love
12) Fly
---------
13) Free Music
14) Map the Soul (Worldwide Version)
15) Fan

The End. Dreams do come true. :)
